Sleep Who?

Last night Sophia had another sleep study up in Indy and it was a complete nightmare! We had to be there by 9PM, which is already 1 1/2 hrs past Sophia's bed time, and of course we waited then finally got up to the sleep lab. I knew I was going to be for a long night because the last sleep study she had was almost just as bad. It was 10:30PM by the time they had her all hooked up, and extremely pissed off. She had probes all over her head, on her face, up her nose and on her chest, really how is a person supposed to sleep like that? She FINALLY fell asleep and something either came off or she pulled it off and the tech had to come in and fix it and of course that got her going all over again. This scenario repeated itself ALL night and if I had to guess I would say that Sophia, and myself, maybe got a full 3-4 hours of sleep last night :( The poor thing was exhausted, but in good spirits after all that crap was off, and I must say it provided Sophia with a really bad hair day today! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of her, but my sister-in-law did and she looked pretty hysterical. Anyway, we should find out the results in about 10 days, and they were pretty much looking at her oxygen stats as well as any sleep obstructions possibly due to her tonsils or adenoids.

Sophia definitely has a tooth poking in and another one on it's way, both bottom front teeth :) Every time I try and get a good look, she sticks her tongue out and covers them up, so it's hard to get a glimpse of them, but I know they're there! She is also moving a little now, in circles :) She will spin herself around in a circle with her legs when she needs to see what is going on ALL around her. It's so funny to see her do it, and now if she would only get the hang of actually moving from point A to point B :)

Jayden is so excited about her big birthday coming up, and has made her list and is so sure that she is going to get everything on it, we'll see. We also got party decorations this past weekend and surprise, surprise the winner of the party decorations was: TOY STORY! We also got a letter from her preschool today and found out that we will have a parent orientation on Aug. 25th and Jayden will have storytime with her teacher and classmates on Aug. 31st and the first day of school is Sept. 7th! She's really excited and I'm sure that she's not quite sure what this whole school thing is yet, but if she decides to talk to the kids, she may make some friends and have a good time, but she's not sure she wants to talk to anyone yet:) and as long as I don't forget to come back and pick her up, I think she'll be good. As if I have ever forgotten her anywhere! Geez, she has no faith in me :)

Randy is still working in Terre Haute at South High School, but he should be finishing up within the next month, so we'll see where he gets shipped off to next. As long as he gets shipped somewhere, we'll be happy! And I've been home doing my thing here. Have a great week!

that was DELICIOUS!

Sophia has been wanting to feed herself lately. She seems to do a lot better eating when I let her help me with the spoon, and this is what she looks like after :)

Rainy Nights

It started storming tonight after dinner, so we decided to close all the windows and shut the lights out and scare each other! :)

Weekends are Wonderful

This summer has been amazing! I forgot how great summer is, playing outside and having fun with family and friends. We have definitely turned this summer around from last years summer and it has been wonderful!

A little bit of everything

Sunday we went to Carmel, IN. for our first Down Syndrome of Indiana picnic. It was a chance for families to get together and for the kids to have fun. They had water activities, did spray tattoos, a guy who made stuff for the kids with balloons and a playground. It was nice to see so many other families and I ran into a few local women there and found out that DSI is going to give our local playgroup some money to do some cool stuff here in Terre Haute!

Sophia has also had her therapies this week, speech on Monday and physical therapy on Wednesday, our occupational therapist is on vacation this week so we were down one therapy. She was a little bit of a pill this week, and I really think she may be a little congested or something. She was very fussy Monday for the speech therapist and pissed off, as usual, for the physical therapist. We are really trying to push her to lunge forward and then sit back up, and get up on all fours, but she doesn't seem to feel very confident in herself to take that leap from sitting to tummy. She can do it, but she tries to avoid it at all costs! She's also been a little more stand offish with oral feeds as well, and spitting up more than what she had been previously. I'm not real sure what is going on, BUT I have a feeling she may be getting one or possibly two little teeth in! I swear I can see something coming in down on the bottom front, but I'm just not 100% for sure yet. We also went on Tuesday to have Sophia's feeding port changed. It is only good for 6 months and so she was due to have the old one taken out and replaced. The whole thing took about 1/2 hour and things went fine and she is doing good with the new button.

Jayden and I have also been taking advantage of this HOT weather the last few days and skipped nap time yesterday and swam for about 2 1/2 hours and had a blast! Today Sophia's nurse came this afternoon for Jayden and mommy time and we decided to go swimming again. We got about 1 1/2 hours in before the storm and it was so much fun! Jayden loves that little pool and just acts like a complete goof ball :) She was doing cannon balls off the side :) and dancing around in the water and running into the side of the pool and falling back into the water. I really don't know where she gets all her craziness? :) It' been a good week and we are ready for the weekend once again! I'm going to try and upload pictures from the picnic and our fun in the sun, enjoy! (Pictures are at the bottom of the page, until I figure out how to attach them to the correct post!)

Can I become a blogger?

So I've decided to try out this blogging thing! There are a few blogs that I read regularly and I thought it would be neat to do it too, so here I am. It's a very rough draft right now, but be patient and maybe I will get the hang of this and it will start looking like a Little Piece of Heaven :) More to come soon!
