Christmas 2010

We had a great holiday season this year! It was filled with friends, family and lots of good food! Celebrating Christmas as a parent has to be just as great as celebrating it as a child. I was so excited on Christmas Eve. Sprinkling reindeer food out on the lawn with Jayden and setting out cookies and milk for Santa on our special plate that Jayden decorated herself. Getting the girls in bed and waiting till they were asleep to start wrapping their presents from Santa. Then when everything was in place, I was so full of excitement, to see the girls in the morning after Santa had been here, that I could barely go to sleep. I was the first one up on Christmas morning and could hardly contain myself from waking everyone up to get the ball rolling, but I was patient, and one by one they all started to get up and that's when the magic hit. Jayden got up and she came in Sophia's room while I was changing her diaper and all I said was "Merry Christmas!" and her face lit up and she ran to the living room. After a few seconds she returned to inform me that, Santa had been here! and he ate his cookies and drank his milk and there was a rocking horse in the living room that she thought was probably Sophia's. Of course I was super excited too :) and told her to get Daddy, so she did. She ran into our room and could hardly contain herself. She told Randy to get up and hurry, Santa had come! We all made our way into the living room and Jayden said she couldn't believe Santa had been here. She looked at Sophia's presents first and handed some to her, then she slowly started unwrapping hers. She went one present at a time, stopping to show Sophia some of her loot too. It was an awesome feeling in that moment and I hate to think that one day that magic won't be there anymore. We've also been talking about how Christmas is really about Jesus' birth and today, during lunch, Jayden announced how we forgot to sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus yesterday, so we did it today :)

Sophia loved the paper and bows the best!

Merry Christmas!

Santa stopped by Grandma and Grandpa's early to deliver "Jessie!" The one thing she specifically asked Santa for.
Sophia isn't real sure about the rocking horse, but it will be some good physical therapy for her!

Beauty and the Beast. The Beast gave Jessie a run for her money in the top toy category.

I don't care what anyone says, these girls aren't spoiled! :)

The Medicine Cabinet

As most of you know, we have been battling a lot of sickness around here for the past 3 or 4 weeks. It all started out with common colds, some coughs and sniffles here and there. Then we had runny noses, fevers and sore throats. THEN, within the past 4 days we have had strep throat, pink eye, an ear infection, green snot running out of one little nose in particular and stuffy, cloged up noses everywhere else. Needless to say, "I'M OVER IT!" We took Sophia to the doctor today, after running into our old friend pink eye yesterday, and there we found out she had an ear infection as well. Jayden's throat was also pretty red and she had swollen tonsils. So the doctor put both girls on amoxicillin and I am giving Sophia ear and eye drops. As well as alternating tylenol and advil. She is also having some trouble doing a number 2, so I am also helping her out with that a bit with a little laxitive. All of that on top of her regular meds and our boggie kit, everything we need to suck all that nasty out of her little nose. They both seem to be doing better and hopefully by the end of the week we will be on the fast track to healthy. It's amazing how we went a whole winter last year with hardly anything, and now, not even into the first offical day of winter yet, we have been in this hole of sickness that we just can't seem to get out of. But I have faith that, WE WILL BE BETTER IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS! :)

The One Sock Bandit

Sophia hardly ever wears shoes and as you can tell, she isn't a big fan of socks either! It never fails, everyday I put socks on these little feet and within minutes she has one pulled off. Usually she always leaves one sock on, but there is almost always one missing sock!

Christmas Songs 2010

Jayden's Preschool Christmas Program

Today was Jayden's Christmas Program at school and it was SO CUTE! There are 6 different classes, a two year old class, 2 three year old classes, 2 pre-K classes and 1 extended pre-K class. They sang songs like: "Ring Those Bells," Ten Little Reindeer," "Go, Go Christmas," Silent Night,"Jingle Bell Rock,"Happy Birthday Jesus," and "Feliz Navidad." Jayden, and everyone else, did a wonderful job singing and dancing and it was awesome to go and see! We bought a DVD from the school, which we probably won't get till after Christmas break, but I was able to
get some pictures in the mean time (not the best pictures but it's the best I could do :). The church was packed with parents and grandparent and family and friends!
Walking in before the program
Jayden's 3 year old class singing "Snowflake in My Hair"

Both 3 year old classes singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Star"

Going back to their seats to watch the rest of the program

Leaving :) after a FABULOUS performance!

Happy Birthday Randy!

Today was Randy's birthday, the last year of his twenties! We decided to throw him a good old fashioned birthday party. We made stremmers to hang, a happy birthday daddy banner, a party hat, balloons and had Iron Man cups and plates for dinner tonight. He got a pretty decent birthday meal; fish, shrimp, fries and crab cakes and my very first attempt at his favorite dessert......peach cobbler. Which actually turned out okay and seemed to be a success. We sang happy birthday to him, over and over again until he just couldn't take it any more :) Hopefully we gave him something a little special to remember this birthday. After posting all those pictures last night, which took FOREVER, I'm not up for doing it again tonight. So I will post some birthday pics tomorrow.

The Big 5-0

Saturday night we had a birthday party to go to. Someone is turning the Big 5-0!!!! Our Aunt Candy will be turing 50 VERY SOON :) and with the holidays coming up they had a surprise birthday party for her this weekend. We all had a lot of fun, but Jayden had a BLAST! That girl danced the night away. We could hardly keep her off the dance floor and she loved watching the other girls dance and tried to immitate exactly what they were doing. Sophia had a great time too, until bedtime hit. They had lights out on the dance floor and Sophia was amazed at the lights moving all around! That girl loves some lights and music! She scooted her little bottom all over that dance floor! Happy 50th Aunt Candy!
Tables set up around the dance floor with black table clothes, pictures and confetti
