THIS POEM, written by Jessica Green, tells what the Buddy Walk means to her, check it out!
Three years ago, we set off on our first Buddy Walk. Sophia was 4 months old and we were pumped to get out there and celebrate her and so many other amazing individuals sporting that extra chromosome. We formed a team, Sophia's Stars, and our strongest support system came out to join us in this new and exciting adventure. Now, three years later, our team has grown with more amazing family and amazing friends, that might as well be family. We all come together, one weekend in October, to celebrate the beauty that is our Sophia. But this day isn't just about Sophia, but about all people rocking that extra something special and making such an incredible impact on our lives and the many lives all around them!
-a proud mother of a daughter who has Down syndrome
PS: I just want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has donated to team Sophia's Stars, we raised over $1500 this year! Down Syndrome Indiana does a lot of exciting things for individuals with Down syndrome, as well as there famlies, throughout the year. They really do help bring this amazing community of people together! They also help support our local playgroup right here in Vigo county, Wabash Valley S.T.A.R.S., which gives our family more of an opportunity to connect with amazing families traveling the same road as us, at a closer venue than traveling all the way to Indianapolis once a month. We are truly blessed to have all of you awesome people in our lives loving us and supporting us, year after year. THANK YOU!!!!!!
