Celebrating Down syndrome!

We celebrated our little star Sophia this past Saturday at the 15th annual Down Syndrome of Indiana Buddy Walk in downtown Indianapolis, and it was awesome!  There were so many people at this years walk and it's really cool to be a part of this amazing community of people!

We set a goal of $1500 for our team, Sophia's Stars, to reach this year and we surpassed that goal by $225!!!!  Making our final team donation to Down Syndrome Indiana this year, $1775, our best year yet!  And our family owes it to all of YOU who supported us by giving whatever you could....we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  I know how hard it is for people to donate money right now.  It's hard enough finding extra money for things you need every day like gas in your car or food from the store.  So seeing our family and friends, even those who we don't see regularly, donate to our team, it warms my heart to know that so many people care and are willing to support a cause that is so, so close to our hearts.  Again, the Russell family says, thank you, thank you, thank you!

This was the first year that our team star could actually walk The Walk and boy did she ever!  We strapped on her little backpack, for safety, and off she went.  She strutted her stuff through Celebration Plaza, stopping at every stroller that we passed, and making new friends with anybody that would pay an ounce of attention to her, which was a lot of people :)  There were many hugs given out by Sophia that day, so I know she was definitely feeling the love of our celebration.

Here are some pictures that I took at the 2012 Buddy Walk, and I appreciate everyone who was able to come out and walk with us again this year!  I know that it's a long way for a lot of people to travel, but you continue to do it every year, because not only does it mean so much to us, but because Sophia means so much to all of you!  We greatly appreciate all of the support from all of our amazing family and friends.  THANK YOU!!!
